How to Reach the Everest Base Camp

Once you achieve your goal in life, the feeling is you have conquered the Top of the world. Pursuing the dream is the only feeling of success in life. So, let’s feel it and come into Step on Himalaya (Mt. Everest) to make your dream come true. It’s always a difficult pathway to success but once you determine nobody or nothing can stop you. Stepping on the path of success is a mighty decision to make. The triumph once you receive is always yours. Hence, carry your rug sack with all the necessary equipment for trekking and step in Nepal to be on the lap of the Himalayas.

The trekking to Everest Base Camp starts from Lukla, a beautiful village at an elevation of 2860m. The stunning flight to Lukla gives you the feeling of reaching the summit of the mighty Himalayas as you will be flying over it enjoying the majestic views of the amazing landscapes beneath. Landing in Lukla is now entering the Khumbu region of Solukhumbhu district, Sagarmatha zone. It lies in the northeastern part of Nepal. From Lukla, we will start walking following the trails of the Dudh Koshi River. Continuing the walk, we will pass by the Phakding Village (2160m) and cross the suspension bridges on the way. There are small settlements like Chumoa, Monjo, and Benkar moving ahead, and walk through the Sagarmatha National Park.

To reach the bustling Namche Bazaar, we will walk further passing Jorsale. The buzzing Namche Bazaar will make you forget your tiredness for some time as you can see everyone busy trading, the children shouting and playing on the roads, the dzopko carrying heavy loads, etc. Many trekkers prefer acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. After acclimating, they will set up and walk again towards the destination. During the stay in Namche Bazaar, one can visit the Sherpa Museum where the equipment of trekking is kept safely for display, and the Everest Photo Gallery. There is the famous Tengboche monastery in Tengboche where we can pay our visit. The enchanting views of the Himalayas on the way are eye-soothing. We will now reach Dingboche (4410m) and then Lobuche (4910m). We will now walk towards the final destination which is the Everest Base Camp situated at an altitude of 5364m.

As we keep on walking, the amazing snow-capped peaks appear insight with breathtaking views. From Everest Base Camp, we will hike up to Kala Patthar which is famous as one of the best vantage points for the mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest and other adjoining peaks like Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Nuptse, etc. The other day we will now return to Gorakshep and then to Pheriche. Then we will head back to Lukla and then via a flight to Kathmandu. This Everest Base Camp usually takes about 14days but some time due to bad weather or if you wish to stay more in the mountains, it might prolong the trekking days. So, once you decide to trek in the Everest region, the better time is during spring (March-May) and autumn (September- December) because during this time, the sky is clear and the views of the surrounding Himalayas are magical. The temperature during this season ranges from minus 2 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius.
