You can also pay a visit to the monastery in Namo Buddha. It is one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries, which was founded by V.V. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche in 1978. There is a belief that a tigress was fed by the Prince Mahasatwo when the tigress was about to die due to starvation. The remaining bones of the Prince were brought and buried in the tomb of Namo Buddha monastery. After about 3500 years, Lord Gautam Buddha arrived in the village and declared himself the reincarnation of the Prince Mahasatwo and hence the village was named as “Namo Buddha” meaning paying homage to Lord Buddha.
