Chitwan National Park of Nepal, formerly known as “Royal Chitwan National Park” is the first National Park of Nepal that was established in 1973. It was enlisted under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984. The Chitwan National Park spreads covering an area of about 932 sq. km. It lies in the plains of the Rapti and Riyu rivers in the Chitwan District of Nepal. This park is situated between the pre-Himalayan Ranges of Mahabharat and the Siwalik belt of foothill ranges on the Indian border. Within the park, the broad valley of Narayani extends northeast into the mountains.

The Chitwan National Park has lush vegetation comprising of about 70% Sal Forest (Shorea robusta), 20% Grasslands, 7% Riverine forests, and the remaining 3% mixed forests. Seasonal flooding changes the mosaic of grasslands and riverine forests. Sals, Chir pine, Khair-sissoo, email-stellar, etc. are dispersed throughout the park. The safari in Chitwan National Park is an awesome activity to enjoy the pureness of nature and Step On Himalaya will surely make this jungle safari a memorable one.

Not only Chitwan National Park is the home to magnificent vegetation, but also is the shelter for approximately 56 species of mammals and varieties of birds. This is a great spot for nature lovers and wildlife photographers. During the safari, the lucky ones get the chance to encounter the Royal Bengal Tiger, an endangered mammal. Similarly, leopards, fishing cats, golden jackals, Indian wild dogs, Bengal foxes, sloth bears, honey badgers, yellow-throated martens, sambar deer, hog deer, chital, langurs, Indian pangolins, Indian porcupines, flying squirrels, black-naped hares, hispid hares, etc. are also preserved in Chitwan National Park.

This park is also famous for the breeding sites of the Indian Spotted Eagle, which is one of the globally threatened species. Pea Fowl and Jungle Fowl are the resident birds here. About 160 vibrant and migrating species of birds usually migrate during the Autumn season from the northern latitudes to pass the winter in this park. A huge flock of bar-headed Geese usually stays during February. The common birds seen are Pallas’s fish-eagle, Eastern Imperial Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Brahminy ducks, Goosanders, etc. The Bengal pittas and sunbird species are the most common breeding visitors of birds during monsoon.

Chitwan National Park Jungle safari lets you enjoy incredible nature with diverse species of floras, faunas, and wildlife. This jungle safari in Chitwan National Park has ranked way high among travelers to Nepal. This jungle safari can be done riding either on the back of the elephant or onto the 4-wheeler. The choice is yours. There are also some add-on activities such as visits to the elephant breeding center, elephant bathing, bird watching, a Cultural dance of the Tharu community, a village tour, etc. depending upon the packages you choose. Step on Himalaya will be Eveready for organizing the Jungle Safari in Chitwan National Park as per your desire and comfort.
